    Looking at today’s list, I could not help but “Compare & Contrast” the banning of “junk” food adverts by TfL with the offering of free noodles on the Tokyo Metro.
    To quote “Private Eye”: “Shome mishtake shurely?”

    There are already ‘shelter buses’ in London of course – many rough sleepers ride the nightbuses as a place to stay warm and relatively safe.

    @Concord Glad to hear that, it’s a great idea. I’m surprised it took so long to start up in Canada.

    @LBM – the idea goes back a lot further, of course. In the ’20s. the Chicago police were astonished to discover a woman who lived on the all night tram service because it was cheaper than lodgings. (In London, a decent night bus service is a relatively recent thing).

    @LBM – Indeed, never underestimate the shrewdness of some of these men and women. When I was doing homeless referrals several years ago, one described to me how he’d get the night bus to Heathrow, use the 45 minutes of free wifi access, get a ticket for being ‘moved on’ by the police to help build up proof of residence in the Borough to eventually access housing services, and then catch the night bus back to Central London.

    re CONCORD
    One such person was featured in the TV series “The Route Masters”. Another attraction of Heathrow as a destination, as I recall, apart from the relatively long continuous ride, was free toilets and wash facilities.
